The opening of a new cargo terminal in Oporto’s Francisco Sá Carneiro airport demonstrates “the growth capacity of Portugal”, DHL Express General Director Américo Fernandes declared at its inauguration last week.

After having footed the €5 million construction bill for the terminal, the director explained how the the facility fitted in with the company’s strategy leveraging Portugal’s regional position to handle cargo “for Brazil, Angola and North Africa, particularly Morocco” The DHL investment coincides with the 30th anniversary of its Portuguese launch and clearly shows “the country plays a leading role” across the group, Fernandes added.
